Match it for Pratchett

As far as we are concerned this is not official, and if we don’t think its official, it aint. I hate to appear to be in any way negative about what appears to be very good intentions, but I could wish that the gentleman concerned had got in touch with us first before going ahead.

I have to say there are certain things that worry me about this project, not because they are in any way fraudulent, but raising and distributing money for charity can involve rather more problems than seem apparent at the start – especially in the loveable volatile world we know as fandom.

Most of the £13,000 raised since last Thursday has been sent to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust (https://www.committedgiving.uk.net/art/public/donor.aspx?id=cc) directly, which at least has the benefit of being straight forward.

All the best.

That's helpful timing young sir. I'm planning to mug friends & relatives over the weekend. I can make sure the proceeds (less my cut of course) go off in the right direction.

Thanks for the info. I must admit that I was wondering if this was officially sanctioned and have been holding out for more info.

So the link to the "Official Website for Match It For Pratchett" on the Charity Forum should read 'unofficial', or maybe 'unofficial, official'? :?

Thank you for informing us in the matter.
I admit I often get carried away by such things and
I´m glad now I chose the Trust directly.

Unofficial or Official, don't care.
If my wearing a Tshirt bearing the name of the bloke that lives down the road means it makes one person ask about it or think about a donation then its helped in the fight against this horrible disease that claimed my mother.

thanks for that - I'll probably get a shirt (cos I like them!) and then send some funds directly to the Trust.

I always prefer to give money directly to the charity concerned. I have been conned once, by a former neighbour who is now enjoying Her Majesty's hospitality, and I vowed then that it would never happen again. I have been kicking myself, and Himself, because I won't be able to get to Wincanton for the event in May, and I sooo wanted a lilac ribbon! :( I'll find a way of getting money to the Altzheimers Trust one way or the other, though. :D
Take care and keep smiling xxxx

I'd be happy to get you a lilac ribbon, if you like :D

We made our donation directly to the Alzheimer’s Research Trust ( I put the MFP bit in the comments box) Direct to the charity is always better if you can.
