As the days grow shorter the Thieves Guild enjoys the extra darkness in which they can go about thier business unhindered. To mark the glory of the season in all it's benefits we have release the new Thieves Guild Four Penny Issue Stamp. A beautiful stamp, realised in shades of blue, in classical style featuring the guild coat of arms.
To accompany this new stamp we offer the new Autumnal LBE which each contain the new Thieves Guild Stamp. Both can be fond in the 'New Releases' section of our online stamp shop.

Irish Convention update

Top o the Mornin'.

We're off to the Emerald Isle! Having had so much fun at the American Convention we thought we would do it again! This time the Cunning Artificers Glee Club Outing is off to Ireland for the very first Irish Dicsworld Convention. With guest of honour Sir Terry Pratchett and other guests including Diane Duane, Peter Morwood, Colin Smythe, Jack Cohen and indeed Bernard and Isobel Pearson and with the addition of a certain black and white drinky, it promises to be worth a Guinea a minute. To mark this event Bernard has produced a commemorative postal label. This will be available in the Irish Convention LBE. The Irish Discworld Convention LBE will be available from Friday 6th November to Friday 13th. It will run concurrently with the Autumnal LBE and in fact the only difference will be the inclusion of a special commemorative stamp and an over-print on the LBE. To set your minds at rest, there is no sport variation with this Convention stamp.

We will reserve one of these special LBE’s for Season Ticket holders, though collectors with multiple season tickets may prefer us to split their holding between the two LBE’s because the variation from the Autumnal LBE is slight. Please let us know.

As with the US Convention we have donated 100 special Commemorative covers for the Convention Charity. These will be available at the Convention and any remaining will be put up for sale by the committee after the Con. We are producing our own Commemorative Cover (edition of 200) which will be on sale from Friday 6th November

This Weekends Hogswatch Bash promises to be a real treat with
games and activities to amuse and bemuse, food, drink, the ever
exciting Charity Auction, Masquerade and Old Tyme Music Hall. A
good weekend should be had by all!

Well as we are putting the final touches (or as our decorative
ribbon suppliers rather enthusiastically puts it ‘Les Touche
Finale!’) to the shop we thought we would let you know a little
bit about some our festive offerings:

The Jolly Hogswatch LBE (Little brown envelope stuffed full with
a random assortment of stamps to the value of £5 with the
possibility of finding rarities, prizes and sports thrown in) is
a festive treat for all those of you who enjoy the delights of
Discworld stamp collecting. Each LBE will contain a 2009
Hogswatch stamp, designed, drawn and rendered by the fabulous Mr
Paul Kidby, Discworld artist extraordinaire! This LBE is a
limited edition of 1000 only of which 200 will be available on
our website from Monday the 30th of November at 12 Noon GMT and
200 at 6pm GMT. Once the LBE season tickets have been reserved
the rest will be sold from the shop at our Hogswatch Bash from
Saturday the 28th Nov. There will be prize tickets in randomly
selected LBEs which will be numbered, a list of prizes can be

), there will also be 50 free LBE vouchers and some Naughty or
Nice Lucky dip vouchers thrown in for good measure.

There will be an edition of 200 Hogswatch Commemorative Covers
featuring artwork by Paul Kidby and bearing the Hogswatch stamp
being released at the shop on Saturday the 28th the remainder
will be released in our online shop on Monday 30th in two batches
at the same times as the LBEs. This cover will cost £7.50 plus
P+P.

The Hogswatch Stamp will also be available in sheets and singly
from the shop on Saturday and online from Monday.

A Happy New Year to you all!

January is upon us again, and the snow brings with it a seasonal sprinkling of stamps to test even the most resolute of resolutions:

A New LBE for the Year of the Happy Goose.
Containing a new stamp from the Guild of Musicians, an edition 'Performed' by the Ankh-Morpork Post Office to celebrate yet another of Ankh-Morpork's great Guilds. It features treble clefs surrounding the Guild coat of arms, executed in 'Deep Harmonic Blues' with a trill of 'Sharp Chromatic Reds'. The stamps cost 40 pennies each and a sheet of 25 stamps will set you back £10.00. Each LBE will also contain an exclusive 21/2 p surcharge stamp to reflect the increase in VAT from 1st January. These will only ever be available in this issue of LBEs.
And before you ask, yes there is a sport, but we’ve sprinkled them liberally into the LBE’s so you stand a very good chance of getting one.

The Theives Guild 4p Stamp now has its place on the GCTS rates which can be found in the usual place http://www.discworldemporium.com/catalo ... ategory=24

There will not be a blanket price increase to cover the additional tax, but we will no longer routinely be giving away Picture cards with orders as we did last year. They are all still available to purchase. However there may still be a little 'something' in each order just for fun.

Say goodbye to the Klatch 10wol and 50wol stamps which are now retiring together with the Bonk 100 and 120 bizot.
The remaining sheets we have of these stamps are now on the endangered list.
We will continue to accept returns of these for GCTS until the end of February.

A series of new Ankh Morpork Definitive stamps to celebrate the Year of The Happy Goose will be issued in early February together with a new Tower of Art stamp.
All the current definitives will be retired at the end of January and we plan to produce the usual series of Consulate Envelopes and an Archive Proof sheet to record them.
We will continue to accept returns of The Pensive Hare definitives for GCTS until the end of March.


We are planning a few changes to the website over the next week or so. Nothing too drastic – just a rearrangement of product in a form that’s easier to locate – we hope.

Greetings to you all upon this fine eve.
Just a quick note from us all at the Discworld Emporium to let
you know that the second Letter to Pseudopolis is now available
for those of you who partake in the Green Cabbage Trading Scheme
(details of the scheme is available here

Young Master Sock is now attending Thresher's School in
Pseudopolis. Mrs Sock has recieved the invoice for fees etc and
is reminding the school that they have overcharged, as is her
wont, due to the fact that the credit note for delivery of
"Wholesome Meats" has not been included in the total. Once again
the stamp is the original 10p Morporkia which was printed
digitally while we were waiting for the very first delivery of
stamps from Enschede. Only 1200 stamps were produced in this way.
There is a unique frank on the envelope from the Mobile Post
Office in Quarry Lane. This item is the second in a range of
three letters telling the story of young Master Socks Scholastic
Career.

Also available from today is the Musicians Guild FDC, being an
edition of 200 illuminated DL envelopes bearing the Musicians
Guild Coat of Arms upon a musical stave along side the Guild
Motto. Sporting a Musicians Guild 2p Stamp and containing an
insert, this cover is an attractive piece of 'Flately' to
accompany your collection.

We are currently putting together Journal 21 ready for print at
the end of this month. This is the last call for competition
entries, articles, letters,cartoons, information and anything
else you may feel like contributing. Send it all to

Also just so you know we have just about finished work on this
years definitives which are about to go to the printers for final
proofing. After 2 months of hard work by a certain stout party we
hope to make them available for you all in the first(ish)
week(ish) of February as is traditional.

Hare today, Goose Tomorow.

Just a quick note to let you all know...
Bernard has just returned back at HQ after overseeing the
printing of the new Year of the Happy Goose definitives (being
the new Ankh-Morpork 1/2p 1p 2p 5p 10p and the $1 Tower of Art).
It is therefore the time of year when we lay to rest the previous
years definitives. All of which are now on the endangered list
and will be available up until Friday 5th of February. The Happy
Goose Definitives will be unveiled very soon along with a new LBE
and followed closely by the next installment of the Stanley
Howler Stamp Journal.

With a special Valentines Day offering, the Fourm Membership
stamp and with various proof sheets, Consulate envelopes and
Green Cabbage Trading updates all coming soon, we will be sure to
keep you informed as much as possible.

On the ball!

Football fever is in the air.

The Round-World Cup has taken over the airwaves and flags and banners are flying all over the world. However…
…The important thing about football, it has been said, the really IMPORTANT thing about football, is that it is not just about football.
So, to celebrate the launch of Unseen Academicals in paperback as well as the World Cup kick-off, we've a new football-based commemorative issue from Ankh-Morpork Post Office, a tactical substitution if you will.

The Going Postal LBE has been benched and roaring onto the pitch, we introduce to you, the 'On The Ball LBE' (A 'Little Brown Envelope' containing an assortment of at least £5.00 worth of Discworld Stamps with the chance of additional rarities, sports and oddities). Anything to Declare?

As we all know, the major embuggerance with far flung travel
isn't the language barrier, nor the dizzying expense, niether the
worry of how to get a decent cup of tea. The bain of all
travellers in the known multiverse is of course....the dreaded
luggage carosel!

Whist waiting at the luggage carousel with a well known Knight of
the Realm we pondered on the meaning of life, butterflies and why
bloody luggage took so long to vomit forth from the bowels of the
aircraft and why, when it did, it all came out looking the same.
Cases eventually hoved into view and a mighty host descended on
them like vultures on a recently deceased wildebeest. The gentle
Knight and I stood back.
Eventually there were only half a dozen cases and bags slowly
perambulating in front of us. All were black, all were
indistinguishable from one another, scuff marks, name tags,
labels on handles, all were morphed into one great proto-luggage.
We pecked and grabbed picking out and tossing back bag after bag.
He turned to me, this friend of mine and remarked that some
clever bugger who called himself an artificer should have come up
with Discworld luggage labels by now. I hung my head in shame and
selected a case I knew was not mine, but was of a much better
quality.

At long last, Ladies and Gents, we can offer you a brand new
shiny set of labels from far flung corners of Discworld to aid
your travel in this world, and remind you of your travels in
another!

Happy Birthday Discworld Stamps!

Six years ago on the 9th of July, Discworld Stamps were born.
Many feats and firsts have been conquered, designs have come and
gone, and well over a million stamps have been produced. In this
year alone thousands of little envelopes (brown ones!) have been
filled with thousands more little gummed pictures, the original
stamps were packed off and sent to become stars of the small
screen in Sky1's film adaptation of Going Postal, and the
Emporium has been bestowed with an exclusive and sticky
commission indeed. What a year it has been, ladies and gentlemen.


To celebrate the 6th Anniversary we have produced the 'Now we
are 6!' LBE, an edition of 1000 which will go on sale this FRIDAY
9TH JULY. After Season Ticket LBEs have been allocated and enough
LBEs to cover the free LBE vouchers reserved, the remaining LBEs
will be released in two batches, the first at 9am BST and the
second at 6pm BST.

Each LBE will contain the final Clacks-Post Stamp - a Koom Valley
edition exclusive to this LBE (includes sport!). In addition
Bernard has prepared a special 6th anniversary postal label (sans
sport!).
As well as the rich mixture of stamps, sports and rarities you
may also be lucky enough to obtain a prize ticket allowing you to
claim one of the following:

- A special 6th Birthday FDC, plus mint stamp.(20 available)
- A sheet of 6th Birthday stamps. (10 available)
- A sheet of Koom Valley Clacks stamps.(10 available)
- A Mini-Sheet of 6th Birthday Penny Patrician stamps. (10

These items are exclusive to this LBE and only available to prize

Dear Flatalists,

Here at the Emporium, things have been rather busy. We have had
storms, rain AND grandchildren. But we would like to tell you all
about the long awaited Unseen University Stamps!

From the cabinet of curiosities, deep in the Unseen University,
we are proud to offer three specimens of stamps that have
transmogrified under the random influence of loose and willful
magic. Such is the unique nature of these small pieces of paper
that they’ve been acquired by the library for their permanent
archive much in the same way that our own stamps reside in the
British collection.

As we all know, as a place with a high level of background magic,
the university has played host to many an extraordinary magical
accident. Consequently, the staff and pupils have learned to
respect the power of words; tomes, documents and scribblings
piled together tend to bend the very fabric of reality, and It
would seem that old stock of Unseen University Stamps have fallen
victim to the magic fields, causing a shift and change in their
appearance. After rigorous testing however, we are assured that
the magic has dispersed and believe these items to be mostly
harmless. We offer them to you, dear reader for proud display in
your own collections.

These curious transformations are presented as a perforated
strip, and are partnered with their original envelopes and slips
from the Unseen University Archive.

are limited to an edition of 250. They should remain available
for some time to come.

The brand spanking new stamps in all their glory will be released
in the Little Bit Of Summer Magic LBE on the 18th of July. A
date, which according to the Ankh-Morpork Post Office Diary
(2007) is known as Tiny Post Day. The publication of the
fourteenth edition of the Post Office Regulations had in it a
small typographical error on page 127 so that the rules stated:
‘Envelopes less than four inches in length and two and
three-quarter inches in width must be used’ The omission of the
word ‘not’ led to the Broad Way Post Office being presented with
more than two thousand letters measuring around one inch. Thus,
if you are lucky, you may find a piece of ‘tiny post’ in select
LBE’s. Each one unique, and bearing no stamp but the old
fashioned frank of the AMPO, these little blighters are simply to
jolly up the LBEs. These LBE’s will run for a good long while, up
until a week before the next LBE in time for the Discworld
Convention on the weekend of the 27th of August.

The full sheets of the new Unseen University Stamps will be made
available for next weekend, on Friday the 23rd and again, will
run for at least a year.

Coventions and inventions!
Greetings all!
We have returned from our travels to the Discworld Convention in Birmingham - and what a hoot! We met many new faces, hid from some old ones and generally had an amazing time. We would like to extend a massive thanks to all who gave the Discworld Emporium such a warm welcome, and for putting together such a fabulous event.
For those who missed it, we did have with us a few new trinkets to amuse and bemuse. So, without further ado let us reveal our wares!
Firstly, The Anoia Votive Tea Towel:
We could all use a hand in the kitchen, so get yourself some divine intervention!

Anoia, Goddess of Things That Get Stuck in Drawers. When someone rattles a drawer and cries "What is this funny-shaped knife? Do we ever use it?" and "I know we had a bottle opener in here somewhere", even though the person might be mildly irritated or even seriously exasperated, it is as praise unto Anoia nonetheless. Faithful Anoians (worshippers of Anoia) purposefully rattle their drawers and complain every day.
