Pam's Birthday Thank you

Postby rentawitch » Thu Jul 22, 2010 10:06 pm

The Luckiest Octogenarian in the WORLDS (Round and Disc) is searching hard for an adequate way to say 'Thank You' to all the people who contributed so selflessly and enthusiastically to make the start of her next 80 years the happiest and most memorable day of her life!

First, I think of the TRIO who put their heads together - ages ago - and came up with the Initial Idea.

There are then the ones who worked, seemingly tirelessly, having decided on which form the day would take, to plan the detail and make it all happen.

After that, there's the big crowd of people who volunteered to take an active part and who achieved such a marvellous result, not forgetting the ones who get no applause, the behind the scenes people, who made everything flow so beautifully with the terrific technology, music, effects, etc

These include the Generous Donor of the function room for the day, the providers of octogenarian accommodation, Unique Witch Transport and Oh, Ye Gods Yes - The Researchers!

The ones who had delved into the history of the last fifteen years (not to mention all the WITCH BOOKS) and who unearthed divers iconographs.

Let us not forget the tolerant Expert who 'Allowed' all his computers and printers to be commandeered to make the research and resulting history accessible. Let us remember all the people who provided and set up decorations, brought lovely home-made cakes and all those who defrayed what must have been the enormous 'shot'.

And how about those dear souls who brought or sent the loveliest cards and adorable gifts and exquisite flowers. and the Huge 'Normous Present that will keep me in dvds for the rest of my life!

I am not forgetting those who contrived special messages if they could not be physically present and - Oh My Goodness Yes - Those who made for me a gorgeous DVD to remind me, if reminder is necessary, of everything everyone did to spoil me that day.

Eighty-Year-Old arms are not wide enough to fold all those so-loved people in one GREAT BIG HJG - but they do want to!

ONE MORE must not be forgotten. ONE without whom the occasion could not have happened, as, without him we would never have known each other.

THAT ONE who made a whole world for all of us strangely-assorted souls to meet and play in, and whose inimitable works have brought us all together as Friends-For-Life. The ONE who sat quietly in the sidelines and surrendered his very own place centre-stage to one very old devotee, allowing her all his rightful applause and adulation.

Tell me, oh tell me someone how the hell do you phrase a big enough 'Thank You' for all of 'This'.

I can do nothing but send all the love I have, or ever have had, and ever will have to you all..

That was such a lovely letter. So glad she enjoyed her special day. It really was magic :sunny:

Fantastic - so glad she loved it as much as we loved taking part in it - and I do love Pam's letters - she is great - long may she continue to delight and thrill and even sometimes scare us as Granny Weatherwax and assorted others.

Wonder what she will think up for maskerade at con this time - no doubt it will be wonderful!

For anyone who is not aware the Witch Transport to which Pam refers is her ride in Demdike's Smart Sportster with her Granny hat sticking out of the sun roof. This was a particular fantasy of Pam's brought to life by Heather :)

Heather very kindly made some copies of the DVD of the This is your Liffe programme.

Which of the participants has not had a copy? And would anyone else like one - the number of copies is not infinite......

Also, perhaps we can arrange to have a copy available for viewing at Hogswatch or even build it into the programme!
(note to self - talk to No. 41)

It would be great if the dvd could get shown at Hogswatch ~ I'd heard it might be shown at the con ...but well, cons fly by!! I did run into Heather while she had the copies to give to you, in retrospect maybe I should have helped lighten her load

I couldn't organise it sorry. Too many rehearsals.
:(
There are copies floating around. Would you like to borrow one? or wait until Hogswatch?
You are at liberty to copy if you have the facility.

I met Pam at the convention - such a lovely lady :)
