Pam Gower's 80th Birthday - Saturday 3rd July 2010. The Bear

Our very own Pam Gower will be 80 on 26th June 2010. She will be celebrating on the day with friends in London.
BUT on 3rd July, we have persuaded her to attend 'Midsummer Madness' as Granny Weatherwax to help judge the 2010 Witch Trials in Wincanton Somerset at the Bear Inn.

THIS EVENT DOES NOT EXIST.. It is a ploy to have Pam come down as Granny Weatherwax.

What is ACTUALLY going to happen is ' Esmerelda Weatherwax - This is your Life'

This will take place in the afternoon of Saturday 3rd July in the Sweetman room of the Bear Inn, 14.30 for 15.00. All are welcome, we need the appropriate studio audience to watch Eamonn Aspel surprise Granny with the Big Red Book.

Plan is to gather for the ' Witch Trials' with noone saying anything to Pam about This is Your Life until she has been presented with the Red Book.

There will then be the programme with a cast of Discworld characters and maybe some Roundworld characters who slip through the portal, introduced by Eamonn Aspel the host of the show.

There are already a number of people who have said they will play characters from Granny's past. However, if anyone has any ideas for characters who SHOULD be on or would like to be involved, please PM me or MrsB through this forum. We may already have that character on our list and he/she may have already been cast but all suggestions gratefully received for consideration.

All this is to take place between 2.30 and 5pm

In the evening - and Pam DOES know about this there will be a Soiree in honour of her birthday. Celebration and Conversation - an evening of elegance and sophistication. It is planned to have a buffet provided by Jo for which there will be a modest charge per head and of course a Birthday Cake. People are also asked to bring small cakes for dessert - cupcakes, fairy cakes, muffins, butterfly cakes, madeleines and the like.

Pam always looks elegant and we thought it would be nice to dress up a bit in honour of the occasion. Anything from smart casual to full evening dress. The evening will be at 7.30 for 8pm and there will be a pay bar. There will be background music,

Granny will receive the Big Red This is Your Life book and Pam will receive an album of photos of her at Discworld events from the original Clarecraft onwards we hope. If YOU have or can find any photos of Pam in one of her amazing costumes, please send to Uncle Bernard as soon as possible.

We WILL need numbers for catering and fortunately, Pam is not on the 'web' so we can have an olde tradithional lithst here.
The lovely Jo, landlady of the Bear is preparing a sumptuous buffet for the evening at £6.50 per head to be booked with and paid for to Jo please.

Have no idea how I could possibly be able to afford to be there though May is already a bit of a stretch...

Well camping ought to be possible. I am actually taking Pam and her friend so I don't have car space but there must be other people going from London and the bus is £20.
