Hear ye, Hear ye, Hear ye.... following the Official announcement earlier today regarding the Mayday festivities, we are pleased to announce the following details:


Saturday May 1st
- After the main event we will be arriving back in town around 3.30pm to the shop to join in with the rest of the festivities, we will be joining you for the meal in the evening.

Sunday May 2nd
- After the fine activities that the Lady Davina and Lord Bernard have provided for you - there will be a magnificent
Hog Roast at the Sweetman Hall ( back of the Bear tavern) from 6pm onwards to celebrate this joyous occasion. Jo and Ian have promised us Old Speckled hen on tap and we would love it if you could bring home-made cake for the desserts.

You will be entertained by the gregarious, poptastic, (rock too) toonmeister that is Mr Josiah Boggis's disco sensation. We are starting it early so those of you who cant stay a 3rd night, or hate driving in Bank Holiday traffic can still come to the party and then leave at your leisure. Optional Rock gear/fancy dress - up to you !

Awe, I was going to improvise something with newspaper. If I was feeling posh, maybe use a magazine as well to make flowers

I think the charity shop in Wincanton will have a rush on hats that day ! Seriously dont fret about it - I am sure people will be kind enough to bring along any spare hats they have and I will look into charity shops between now and then and collect some.

Sorry to disappoint you guys - including myself- may I say, but Jo has informed me that they cannot get Hobgoblin at all!I have asked them to get Sneck Lifter or Old Speckled hen ( at a push ) instead. I really hope they can get something good!

* updated to say that Mike has Hobgoblin currently at the Dolphin and Jo has managed to get Old Speckled Hen!

Have been packed for a week and finished loading the motorhome now.Pheww

Just a very quick question.

CAKE. yum yum

I am making the cakes tomorrow evening as we are setting off to Wincanton at 5 Am. Friday morning
I will be a bear with a sore head,mornings are not my thing.LOL

when i bring the cake where can i leave it.
The motorhome fridge is to small and with it being a Chocolate cake dont want to have a chocolate puddle on my hands
saying that it has to last the journey and could only be a few crumbs left.
Already made 2 cakes and they just seemed to have vanished must be the cake fairy that has took them. LOL

so much to think of and nearly no time left

This is a very good question!

I did mention it to Jo at the Bear and she said something vague about finding somewhere I think.
However I dont really have an answer for that one. Will see what can be arranged.... and get back to you.

I now have a chocolate and a carrot cake.
hubby says its been more like amore like a WI in our kitchen.

I think people will just have to look after the cakes until Sunday as there is nowhere to store them - sorry. I did ask but with the pubs doing meals all weekend for folk they dont have the room and I live out of town by 4.5 miles so couldnt transport them in nor would they all fit in my fridge - sorry.

Glad you enjoyed making them and look forward to trying them sunday.
